The Tess Story

The Tess story started back in 2009, we wanted to create learning moments and inspire people through coaching and training. This basic desire turned in to excitement that turned in to a deep passion for delivering world class learning and development solutions. That’s where we are at today. We mainly work with businesses to develop their people’s skillsets but we do also work with disadvantaged people such as volunteers, the unemployed and those coming out of prison.

Businesses typically choose us to deliver their learning and development programmes because of our ability to listen, tailor and bespoke our programmes to suit their individual needs. We are proud to work with a real range of small, medium, large and major businesses and organisations from across the land. Our programmes can be behavioural, they can carry qualifications and they can be more safety focused where our sister brand Safe & Trained deliver Chapter 8 and CSAS to a variety of clients.

We are passionate about helping Apprenticeship Levy clients and deliver a real range of Standards including Leadership and Management including Aspiring Leader Programmes, Food and Catering, IT and Digital Marketing, Customer Service, Improvement Practitioner, L&D, Project Manager, Mentoring, Coaching and many many more. We deliver these nationally through a blended approach.

We are fortunate at times to have funding for smaller courses which can include Spectator Safety, Customer Service, IT, and Leadership and many many more.

We also deliver advance learner loans which include Intelligence Operative, Customer Service, Business Enterprise, Management and Spectator Safety L4.

Rod Doyle

Managing Director

Rod Doyle is a modern leader who believes in creating winning ways and habits through a mixture of theory and common practices. Rod Doyle and the Senior Leadership Team have built a business  with a 21st Century spin on branding by creating a ‘community of businesses’ that all interact and interconnect to the betterment of each.

Lisa O'Reilly

Commercial Director

Lisa has been at the Tess Group for 6 years & sits on the board of directors. Lisa is at her best when working with Rod to create fresh business solutions and shares the same determined vision to offer high quality value to our clients. 

Clive Doyle


Retired from the police service having performed the role of Superintendent in charge of operations including the management of large sporting events and music festivals. Clive created a training company to ensure that safety staff were safety competent and skilled in customer service.

Steve Laws

Director Of Safe & Trained

Steve is an experienced Director with a demonstrated history of working in the events services industry. Strong professional with a Bachelor’s Degree focused in Crowd Safety Management from Buckinghamshire New University.Steve started The Tess Group in 2009 with Rod and Clive Doyle.

Lauren Doyle

Head of Data & MIS

Lauren has over ten years of experience working in Further Education having started working in Administration and Audits for DWP contracts in Leicestershire. Since then, Lauren has developed a niche in understanding paperwork and ensuring learners are enrolled correctly. She is currently the Head of Data and MIS for The Tess Group, where she has been a key member since the beginning in 2009.

Sherlock Doyle

Stress Management

Sherlock has been with The Tess Group for over 3 years now and works as the Stress Management Co-ordinator. The Tess Group is a fun and vibrant workplace, but just like any other busy and bustling company, the workforce can get stressed or anxious at times. This is where Sherlock is at his best, always ready to greet us with a smile and offering cuddles.

Briéd Bradshaw

Head of Finance

Briéd is an experienced accounts professional and certified FMAAT. She is passionate about providing financials that are relevant and meaningful to support business growth and protect profits. Briéd believes people are the key to driving success, valuing collaboration and teamwork above everything she does. Her demand for exacting standards and high expectations of her team are valued equally without exception.

Martin Parnham

Head of Delivery

Martin has been with The Tess Group for over 6 years, and is our Head of Delivery. He is responsible for overseeing the management of a variety of our contracts by maintaining excellent links with our funders, clients, employers and learners. He leads a team of Delivery Managers, IQA’s and Trainers ensuring delivery of courses is of the highest quality with qualified trainers that cover the subject knowledge in a vast range of standards and frameworks. 

Annie Laws

compliance course manager

Annie has worked for the TESS Group since 2010 and manages the Advanced Learner Loan contract and Compliance courses. Annie has extensive administrative and managerial experience in both the public and private sectors.

Shannon Morgan

Business Support manager

Shannon brings a wide knowledge of paperwork and contracts to her team, in her role as Business Support Manager and is an essential part of the team. She leads by example and will always go the extra mile to ensure learners are enrolled successfully on to their chosen programme.

Emma Kelleher

Accounts Assisstant

Emma has worked in the accounts environment for the last 5 years. Since joining TESS in 2017 her development has soared. Emma is very careful and considered in her work and at the same time manages to work at pace to keep up with the volumes of invoices to process!

Taz Pidgley

Business Support

 Joining us when she had just completed her GCSE’s, Taz took her first step on the career ladder as a trainee recruiter. Placing several candidates in her time as a recruiter, Taz has refined her skills and progressed to the Business Support Team, where her attention to detail and dedication to her role are an asset to the team.

Ian Palmer

Trainer and Skills Coach

Ian has worked within the education and training sector for 8 years.  Ian has also managed a team of Trainer/Assessors/ Skills Coaches for over 4 years, ensuring that all Learners were receiving high-quality training and developing to their full potential. Ian has worked on supporting Northamptonshire’s unemployed to develop their  Employability Skills.

Stephanie Richardson

Trainer & Skills Coach

Stephanie has but have been working in training for over 5 years. Previous to this, her entire career has been in Retail, working as Head of Retail for an Italian footwear brand and before that as Operations/Retail area manager for a high end international fashion brand. My passion is training management and retail

Georgina Mason

Trainer and Skills Coach

Georgina has been a part of the Tess family for just over a year. She has been a trainer for the past 4 years – and is very good at it! Prior to that, she managed care homes for adults with learning difficulties so she really understands her learners and knows best when attending to their needs. 

andrew Killip

Hospitality Trainer

Andrew is the lead Chef Trainer for the Professional cookery, Commis Chef standards at The Tess Group. Andrew came from a hospitality background working in Hotels, restaurants and contract catering and brings with him over 30 years’ experience.
He has worked with training providers for over 15 years.

Mell Elliott

Trainer and skills coach

Mell’s worked in education and training for just over two years and has a passion for people management with over 13 years of experience in Human Resource Management. Mell has worked in a variety of major businesses and has built up a vast knowledge of HR subjects.

Millie Wellington

Digital marketer

Millie has joined the team at Tess nearly a year ago on a Level 3 Digital marketing apprenticeship. The Tess Group offer her lots of support and doesn’t just look at her as an apprentice but as an employee. She can’t wait to see what the future holds for her at The Tess Group.

Vera Burford

Business Admin

Vera recently joined The TESS Group as a Business Admin Apprentice, and helps out with the Business Support Team. She enjoys working with all the different team members and providing support wherever she can . When not at work, she spends her time looking after her pet tarantulas, snakes and rats and relaxing with a book.

Klea Selimi

Business Admin

Klea joined The Tess Group a few months ago and her main role is helping Taz with recruitment which involves screening candidates and organising interviews. She enjoys bringing in and sharing new snacks with everyone in the office.

Enrika Chodzamkulova

Business Admin

Enrika has joined the Tess group as a delivery business support executive, who helps the learning and delivery team with admin duties. She enjoys working with the trainers to help provide the best learning environment possible. Outside of work she enjoys going out with friends and relaxing at home catching up with her Netflix series.

Brad Wiles

Junior Content Producer

Brad is also one of our newest apprentices on the team and is completing the Junior Content Producer Level 3 apprenticeship. He helps to manage our social media platforms and create posts.
