The UK Government is defunding 16 management apprenticeship standards from 1 September 2026, redirecting investment towards AI, engineering, and technical skills. The Team Leader / Supervisor Level 3 (ST0384) and Operations / Departmental Manager Level 5 (ST0385) are among the biggest affected — together accounting for over 25,000 new starts every year.
No direct replacement standards have been announced. The last day for new starts is 31 August 2026.
