AI Automation
Taster Day.

Bring a process, leave with an automation.

A free, hands-on workshop, live online, run build-along style. Most AI taster days tell you what is possible. On this one, you build it: one real process from your business, mapped, designed, built with your own hands, tested and demoed to the room by 3:30. No coding, and nothing to unlearn afterwards.

Who it’s for

Places go to the right builders.

The day works because everyone in the room is building. Check you’re in the right place before you book.

Perfect for you if…

  • You own a repetitive, rule-based, digital process: weekly reports, inbox triage, data moving between systems, document formatting
  • You want to see whether automation is genuinely realistic for your work, by doing it, not watching it
  • You can bring a laptop, cameras on, and roll your sleeves up for a day
  • No coding experience — that’s the point. Free-tier accounts are all you need

Not the right room if…

  • You want strategy, governance and board-level AI direction rather than hands-on building
  • You’d rather evaluate than participate — this is not a webinar to lurk in

Strategy person? You want our AI Leadership taster days instead: six-hour days for senior leaders on strategy, governance and delivery.

The day

One process in, one automation out.

1Morning
Pull your process apart, spot the automatable steps, and storyboard the build with your coach.
2Build sprints
Hands-on in breakout rooms grouped by platform, coaches unblocking as you go. By mid-afternoon your automation exists, works, and has been tested.
3Demo time
Every builder shows their automation working and what it saves. Then: the guardrails to run it for real, and what a year of this looks like.
Where automations actually live. Chat tools like Copilot, ChatGPT and Claude are brilliant for drafting, but they cannot host a running process. So we build in the platforms that can:

✓ Free tiers are fine for the whole day, no licences or IT approvals needed. We help you set up in the morning.
Come with one process you know inside out: repetitive, rule-based, digital. We send a one-page process picker with your joining instructions, and one rule keeps it safe: bring the process, not the confidential data.

After the day

What a year of this looks like.

The taster day is one day and one process. The AI & Automation Practitioner Level 4 is the permanent version: fifteen months (or an 8-month fast-track), 100% levy-funded, where the day’s skills become a qualification and a portfolio of shipped automations.

And the first six weeks feel like the taster day on repeat: live build sessions, a named coach, Coachy in your pocket from day one, and your first workplace automations shipped before induction month is out. Tasks, not essays.

The natural next step: most people who finish the day and want to keep building join the next AI & Automation Practitioner Level 4 cohort — next intake Friday 4 September. Not a levy payer? SMEs get 95% government co-funding, so for most smaller employers the L4 costs little or nothing.

Questions

The practical bits.

What do I need on the day?
A laptop, a stable connection and a process you know inside out. Free-tier accounts on the build platforms are fine, and we help everyone set up in the morning session.
Do I need a paid account for Zapier, Make or the other platforms?
No. Free tiers are fine for the day on every platform we build in: Zapier, Make, n8n, Copilot Studio, Power Automate and Claude Cowork.
Are cameras on?
Yes, cameras on, sleeves up. It is a small, hands-on build day with coaches circulating breakout rooms, not a webinar to lurk in.
What if my process is too complex?
Your coach helps you carve out an automatable slice in the morning storyboard session. Every process has one. We also send a one-page process picker with your joining instructions so you arrive with the right candidate.
Is the day recorded?
It is a live build day rather than a webinar, so the value is in doing it live: your hands on the tools, a coach in the room. You leave with the automation itself, your joining pack and the process-picker materials, which matter more than a recording.
What happens after the day?
You keep your working automation. Most builders who want to keep going join the next AI & Automation Practitioner Level 4 cohort, the levy-funded apprenticeship where the day’s skills become permanent: a working AI agent by month 4, a BCS qualification by month 5, 72% distinction at End-Point Assessment.
