A Day In The Life Of a Delivery Trainer Blog.
On Tuesday the 5th Of March, we travelled down to watch Jamie, a delivery coach, who was extremely positive throughout the session both with the teaching and with the learners, Jamie also constantly gave feedback to the learners, whether it was to do with a question or with a debate, he made sure they had feedback to help the learners in the future. The learners very clearly felt comfortable sharing their thoughts and seeking guidance when needed.
Jamie’s ability to engage the learners and encourage them to bounce off of each other’s thoughts was impressive to see; through collaborative discussions and active participation, the learners gained new perspectives, along with new insights, and enhanced problem-solving skills. By giving everyone an opportunity to express themselves and receive feedback, Jamie ensures that no one feels left out or unheard. His inclusive approach encouraged the learners to support and learn from one another.
My particular favourite part of the session was when we discussed how feedback affects people and how some people prefer to not be given feedback, for example he taught us that sometimes it’s better to call negative feedback constructive feedback, as a person could take the feedback in an defensive way rather than a helpful learning experience due to it being “negative” feedback.
Benefits of the session:
- Positive reinforcement helps create a positive learning environment where individuals feel valued and supported;
- Feedback helps individuals to focus on their strengths and work on their weaknesses, ultimately leading to personal and professional growth.
- By providing continuous encouragement and acknowledging progress, Jamie helps individuals build their self-belief and resilience.
- Positive feedback creates a safe space for individuals to make mistakes and learn from them.
- When the learners received constructive feedback and were encouraged to reflect on their performance, they understood why it had been given, and wrote down notes.
