Apprenticeships for Small & Medium Businesses
Most SME apprenticeship training is 95–100% government funded. From 2026/27, under-25 apprenticeships are completely free. Here's how to access it.

How SME Apprenticeship Funding Works
Step 1: Check Your Levy Status
If your payroll is under £3 million per year, you're a non-levy employer. This means you don't have a separate apprenticeship levy account and enjoy simpler, subsidised funding from the government.
Step 2: Government Covers 95% (or 100%)
The government pays 95% of apprenticeship training costs. From 2026/27, under-25 apprentices are completely free to train - government covers 100%. No payment needed from you for those cohorts.
Step 3: You Pay 5% Via Monthly Co-Investment
For apprentices over 25, or during the transition period, you contribute 5% of training costs. This is billed monthly, spreading the cost across the apprenticeship duration. No lump sums, no upfront fees.
Step 4: TESS Handles Everything Else
We manage DAS setup, submit claims to the government, track levy funds (if applicable), and handle all compliance. You focus on developing your apprentices while we manage the paperwork.
